[Null/Gods Information]

lifetothefullestThe new arrivals guide is very helpful for the basics of how and why we're here, but this is meant to more specifically summarize what we know of the situation we're in regarding the Null and the gods.
As a note, here: I'm using 'gods' mostly for lack of a better term, since we don't know what their species is actually called. I definitely don't mean anything else by it, good or bad.
Another note: If there's something wrong or missing from this information, let me know and I'll edit or add it in, as long as it's objectively fact.
Overview
The short version of the story is that at one point, the gods' species, their previous host species, and the Null coexisted together. Eventually, however, the Null decided that they preferred logic to emotion, and due to the gods' ability to cause beings around them to feel emotion the Null chose to try to eliminate them. In doing so they killed all the hosts and most of the gods, leaving only Hope and Fear, who managed to hide from them.
Fear used the Door to bring in people--us, and anyone else who has or will come or go from here--to help provide power to himself and Hope, as they gain strength from our emotions. Over time, Hope was able to regain enough energy to resurrect some other gods: Rage, Delight, Tranquility, Confusion, Sorrow, and Love.
After this, the Null began to contact us on the network, asking for our help in finding and killing the rest of the gods, in exchange for being left alive as neutral parties or, potentially, being allowed to leave should the Null take control of the Door. Some agreed to help, and to prove their loyalty the Null asked them to kill individuals here who had expressed an unwillingness to help the Null's cause. A few complied, and received god-killing weapons.
Some time later, the Null located the city, and it was revealed that Delight had been assisting them. Sorrow was killed during the fight, which lasted over two weeks and ended when Fear was able to move the city.
A little over two months later, a Null calling itself [Name] posted to the network claiming to have been damaged and left behind in the city, and that its proximity to the gods over such a period of time had caused it to develop emotions. It claimed it felt fear, and guilt, and was no longer a danger to us. There was a lot of debate over whether it was telling the truth or not, and whether or not it should be destroyed, but it's presumed someone sympathetic to its cause found it considering it posted to the network again a week ago.
This post contained information regarding the Door, claiming its energy signature indicates it's either a god itself or something very similar. [Name] also stated that pieces of this being are scattered around on the ocean floor, and gave us coordinates for where to look.
After this, Tranquility asked us provide input on whether or not the gods should help us in searching for these pieces of the Door. This is the point we are at now, and hopefully the previous information will provide context for the discussion and any further questions you may have for Tranquility or the other gods.
