[That response just... Kind of confuses him, honestly. Fortunately, as much as he likes Ephemera, he does know better than to take his account of things as the complete truth.]
That doesn't explain much. Is she the type of dangerous that strangers have to be concerned about, or people who know her, or people who know her and get on her bad side specifically?
[None of these are better or worse than each other, exactly, but they're different categories for sure.]
[He's taking him seriously, although not exactly in regards to the particulars of what Ephemera said. Still, he plans to be cautious, just form his own opinion of whether it's necessary and, if so, why.]
I'm still out myself. It's nice to be away from the city for awhile.
Being objective is difficult, but good. I do have another short term suggestion, but it might be better explained through audio or video, if you're willing.
[Because it's not exactly professional psychologist advice, so he has to be careful about how he says it so as not to encourage the wrong idea.]
[Lance looks a little windswept and his hair is kind of ridiculous at this point, but otherwise he seems more vibrant than he has been. He gives Ephemera a pointed look that is a clear indication that he sees the bruise, but doesn't ask.]
As a forewarning, this is not official psychologist advice. I'm on vacation.
[It's sort of a joke, especially the last part, but he means the first part all the same.]
Dealing with people from your world, especially if they were or are a part of Washington's team, is going to be difficult. You know that. But, in the short term, there may be a way to handle the situation that is still emotionally fulfilling for you--and therefore easier to deal with--while avoiding any sort of confrontation that would set back all the advances you have been making while here.
[And it's a very simple solution, actually.]
You have a life here. You have friends, and projects, and goals to accomplish, and their arrivals are not more important than any of those things. So get some sense of revenge just by spitefully doing what you would normally do, because they aren't worth the time and effort and don't deserve to interrupt your life here.
[Spite is not the best coping mechanism, and that's why this is short term, but it might be effective in this situation. Lance used this tactic a lot when he was younger, before the mastered the art of letting go of hatred, and he thinks that latter skill is a little too lofty for Ephemera to shoot for right away.]
[Sweets does look better, though. Not so tired. And the advice isn't bad. It's simple too, which Ephemera appreciates. He thinks about it for a moment. Nods.]
[Okay, he should've seen a comment on his hair coming, but it makes him grin a little all the same. He needs to stop putting off cutting it, seriously.]
Good. When I'm back we can talk about some professional, less fun, more well-adjusted methods, but for now that might work.
