There's definitely no rush. And you don't have to answer at all, really; you can just try different things and see what you enjoy.

The only thing I can think of is that I like teaching people, but everything I teach is combat related. It'd be useful here, but not exactly something different.

Yeah, but you know a lot of stuff, right? You said you were learning a little bit of everything. Maybe you could teach people something else.

[He can't offer much more on the subject at the moment since he doesn't know all that much about Washington, so he'll just leave this to the two of them to discuss further for now.]

[ These questions are unreasonably difficult for him to answer despite not actually being hard questions. Wash considers it. ]

Yes...

[ Especially since being here, but most of those things involve magic and he doubts he'd be able to learn. ]

[Kyna shoots a grateful look at Lance and then nudges Wash.]

[Lance offers her a small smile in return and then turns his attention toward Washington as well, waiting for the answer.]

I think... the most significant was when I found out people could heal. But that's probably not something they could teach me.

It might be. I mean, it depends on the magic, but where I'm from, you could totally learn healing spells.

[Lance nods in agreement with Kyna's statement, though it's not like he has a whole lot of expertise on the subject to add. People being able to heal is really, really cool, though, so he's totally with Washington on this idea.]

I guess it can't hurt to ask?

[ He's definitely not going to get his hopes up, but. It'd be pretty amazing. ]

Lance picked up on all the spells I taught him really fast.

[Augh, compliments. Lance glances off to the side awkwardly, totally not a little flustered.]

What were you guys working on?

Cantrips. I have to help him make a focus for anything stronger, but... you know. No magic.

You don't have to do anything, even when you do get your magic back.

[Just pointing that out. Not that he'll argue with the whole idea, since he'd love to learn more, but still.]

You need magic to make a focus in the first place? That seems like a catch-22.

[She shoots Lance a look.]

That's not what I meant. I like teaching you.

[And then, for Wash:]

It's a million times easier to make your first focus when someone else is helping you.

[He raises his hands briefly in a show of surrender at that look, offering a small smile to go with it, but the answer to Washington's question is interesting and he has to ask--]

He's curious about how to make a focus, too -- maybe she'll wind up teaching him, too, eventually. ]

It's uh... Like a ritual. You need something to help you focus your magic, get it? So you pick something—everyone says it needs to be significant to you, but that's bullshit. My last one was a tattoo.

[She shows him her left arm, where her tattoo was. There's nothing but a big scar now.]

The one I'm using now is just a cheap necklace. Anyway, it's like you're... Like you're tethering whatever it is to yourself. Attuning it to your magic, right? If you don't have your focus while you're casting more powerful spells it's harder to control them and they're way less predictable.
